Argotti Garden was initially set up as a private garden for Grandmaster Pinto. It became a botanic garden in 1805. Today this garden contains different species of trees that originate from different countries of the world, such as the Draceana draco from the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Madeira and Western Morocco or the Argania spinosa from southwestern Morocco and southwestern Algeria. This garden is currently being planted with different plant species originating from different regions of the world to create and evolutionary garden. Plants shall be planted according to their plant family to showcase how plants have evolved over time. Visitors will thus be able to learn about plant evolution and plant diversity, while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the garden, and aesthetically pleasing features, such as the numerous fountains, containing aquatic plants.
